Eric Kaufman

Eric Kaufman is a dedicated leadership educator and scholar. He researches and promotes best practices for collective leadership, with special emphasis on problem solving and team development. Dr. Kaufman’s work advances social science in a variety of contexts, with past projects supporting the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Centers for Instructional Leadership, as well as the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Geosciences Opportunities for Leadership in Diversity (GOLD) program. As a faculty member at Virginia Tech, Eric coordinates a graduate certificate program in Collaborative Community Leadership and supports the undergraduate minor in Leadership and Social Change. As a specialist with Virginia Cooperative Extension, Eric works to improve citizen involvement in Extension program planning. He was also instrumental in creating a new adult leadership development program that serves Virginia’s agricultural community. Eric has been recognized by his department and nationally with awards for outstanding teaching, Extension, and research.
