Aparna Shah

Aparna is a neuroscientist and educator who engages in neuroscience and education research. During her graduate and postdoctoral training at UT Health San Antonio and Johns Hopkins University, respectively, her research focused on neurobiological mechanisms underlying brain disorders and their treatments. At Virginia Tech, she teaches a variety of courses, including 'Neuroscience of Drug Addiction', which incorporates community-engaged learning (CEL). She is assessing the impact of CEL on students’ science identity, civic value, intention to engage with community, learning, and science communication skills. She also contributes to a collaborative endeavor to enhance training in experimental rigor in biomedical research.
