Hokie for a Day School Information

Hokie for a Day offers fifth grade students a unique opportunity to experience college life. The visit includes a discussion of college majors, a conversation about how to get to college, an expo with hands-on academic experiences from Virginia Tech faculty and students, lunch at an on-campus dining hall, and a chat with a student athlete.

We want to expand learners’ visions of their future possibilities. We create opportunities for them to tour campus, talk to students, see the labs and infrastructure, and eat the food. They need to see a clear path between where they are and where they could be going. Hokie for a Day connects learners with opportunities at Virginia Tech and beyond.

About image permissions

We love to take and share pictures of our field trips. To do so, we need to secure photo permissions for the people in your group, including chaperones. Even if you have blanket permissions for your school, we request permission for Virginia Tech to take and publish pictures. Please print these paper forms and send them home with students to get parent signatures. You may scan the completed forms and email to us, or you may bring them with you. Please keep track of whose forms you receive and have that information ready when you arrive. We will provide lanyards with “no photo” icons for learners whose images cannot be taken.
